Football can wait. This year, it's Stuttgart that's important. At the end of October the competition to win the coveted title of “Global TechMasters Truck“ – the world championship in Mercedes-Benz customer services – will begin again. As is the case for football, it's not just a question of muscles and strength, but also a lot of ability and team spirit.

Every two years Customer Services & Parts at MB Trucks organises the competition. This year, 60 participants from twelve countries will be competing against each other. The countries are: Brazil, Russia, China, Finland, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Poland, Austria and Switzerland. The national teams are made up of workshop and service staff from Mercedes-Benz who qualified in national competitions beforehand.

Coveted title. Every two years Mercedes-Benz chooses its best employees from the customer service departments awarding them the “Global TechMasters Truck” trophy.

“Trucks you can trust – that is the brand promise of Mercedes‑Benz Trucks.”

–Dirk Hansen from Mercedes-Benz TruckTraining

“Trucks you can trust – that is the brand promise of Mercedes‑Benz Trucks,” says Dirk Hansen from Mercedes‑Benz TruckTraining. “For us a high degree of vehicle availability is priority. Our training is designed such that the super and experienced staff from the Service departments can contribute to that. The competition challenges participants to prove in a fair competition that they fulfil this promise every day when dealing with our customers.”

From a tricky test of knowledge to a practical test that has participants working up a real sweat; each team must face four very different tests at the “Global TechMasters Truck” competition. And both the individual and overall performance count. Points are awarded for finding errors in the vehicle – built in specifically for the competition, the correct use of diagnostic equipment and a professional customer consultation.

The defending champion of the title of best service team 2017 is Italy, by the way. At every competition there is also always a “secret” second winner: Mercedes-Benz customers. Because the competition doesn't just increase the attractiveness of service careers for existing and future employees. It also contributes towards maintaining the high quality of the service departments. “We win a lot of new customers with our innovative trucks,” says Hansen. “And with an excellent service, we support them perfectly in their everyday business.”

On 23rd October, we will know who can take the coveted trophy home with them this year. Exclusive Impressions and a report about the exciting competitions will be published shortly on RoadStars!
