The series.

In 1955, Mercedes-Benz changed the classification of the market-leading L 3500. From then on, the successful series was called L 311. There were, however, no significant changes to its construction. Until 1961, around 56,000 examples of the L 3500 and L 311 were rolled off the line. Because the vehicles were a popular export, they were not only assembled in Mannheim, but also in India and Brazil, and for a time even in Argentina.
