André Pereira has two passions: truck driving and coffee

ROADSTARS MEETS

Hot breaks.

André Pereira likes being out and about. He loves the beauty of the outdoors and the architecture of European cities – but above all: coffee!

Just under four years ago, André discovered his passion for truck driving: "I'd tried other jobs. But as soon as I sat behind the wheel of a Mercedes, I knew that was my thing," he says. The driver from Lisbon is 28 years old and likes travelling. "I know almost all the European cities. I think it's great!"

But he certainly wouldn't miss his break times. That's when he drinks hot, strong coffee. "I couldn't do without that taste," he says. That's why he has a large tin of coffee powder in his cab. "I might forget to refuel, but my coffee? Never!" he jokes. Electric kettle, mug and spoon are indispensable, and always within easy reach inside his Actros.

If the weather allows, André takes the table and chair out of the storage compartment and puts them up outside. Then he makes himself comfortable so he can enjoy the view with a cup of hot coffee in his hand. "I love being out in the countryside and all the new impressions I get," he says.

Photos for his loved ones.

Whenever André has enough time, he parks his truck in a safe parking space and takes the opportunity to take a closer look at the town. "I admire the architecture of cities like Berlin, Warsaw or London." André never misses the chance to take photos of particularly striking buildings or monuments with his smartphone. He shows the pictures to his wife and his son back home in Lisbon.

"I don't get to spend much time with my family," says André, "but I make sure that the time we have together is as nice as possible." What better way than sitting comfortably at the table at the end of a meal and chatting? Of course holding a cup of good coffee.
